KENTUCKY (WFIE) -
Several Kentucky neighbors believe their dogs have been stolen.
14 news has gotten reports from upset pet-owners in Henderson, Union, and Webster Counties. They believe their missing dog cases may be linked, and that the dogs have been taken for breeding.
One thing they have in common: all of the missing dogs are Labradors.
"They're just my babies," said owner of a missing dog Celia Jackson. Jackson says one of her Labs went missing on January 26th and another exactly two weeks later.
"We saw him before we went to bed, and then whenever we woke up the next morning, he was gone," said Jackson.
Jackson says she and others are getting the word out about their missing animals through the Dogs and Cats of Union County Facebook page.
Jason King with Henderson's Animal Control says it is possible someone may have stolen the dogs to start up a puppy mill. King tells 14 News the isolated cases are most likely connected and part of a bigger picture.
"The more animals get stolen, more animals get sick, then these puppies have puppies and the whole circle continues," says King.
Animal Control says they hope the counties can work together to locate a suspect.
"Right now, it's just a matter of the investigation part of it, of finding where everything is connected," said King.
"It's heartbreaking that somebody's going to not only steal something from you, but a part of your family," said Jackson.
Henderson's Animal Control says if your dog is missing contact Animal Control, giving them pictures of your pet along with detailed identifying information.
