Customers come hungry for YMCA's Pancake Days

Posted: Updated:
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Sunday was the last day for the YMCA's 24th annual Pancake Days.

Those who went enjoyed all of the pancakes they could eat. The organizer says that over the three day event, the cooks flipped around 8,000 pancakes for 4,000 customers.

But the hardest part isn't flipping all those flapjacks.

"Well, really there's so many volunteers and you may find this hard to believe, but there is no hard part," said volunteer Rick Kersting. "It's getting everybody together initially. When this happens, we do a recap this week, we start planning for next year, and once we get all of the volunteers lined up."

The money raised during Pancake Days goes to support the YMCA's activities for the rest of the year.
