Warrick Co. to begin accepting all glass to recycle

Posted: Updated:
WARRICK CO., IN (WFIE) -

Warrick County is reintroducing glass recycling at all of their seven drop off sites.

They've just purchased equipment to keep all the glass separated.

They've been accepting clear glass since January and Monday, they will start accepting brown glass and blue and green glass in March.

The facility had previously accepted co-mingled glass, but with more than 36,000 pounds of glass a week, it was too much for the Evansville contractor to handle.

"They would have to try to sort," said Superintendent Scott Anslinger.

Now, the bins may not seem very large, but when they are filled with glass, weigh 350 lbs.

Solid waste also purchased a new truck to transport the bins to Evansville.
