Oboro airport hopes Vegas flights grow in popularity

DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) -

The Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport says they need to step up advertising for their Las Vegas flights.

Directors say they don't think surrounding cities in the Tri-State know about the new service.

Managers with Cape Air say newly added flights to St. Louis are a booking at a good pace.

"We have reservation agents there everyday and doing very well, so we're happy to be down there," said Rich Corbin with Cape Air.

Airport officials are hoping travelers will have the same response to Allegiant's flights to Las Vegas.

Airport director Bob Whitmer tells 14 News the airline is expecting most Vegas flights to fly out with most seats taken, and to help fill up those planes, the airport is spreading out its advertising dollars.

"We're meeting with the Chamber of Commerce, representatives of seven different counties, and we're doing the same thing with the Visitor's Bureau."

The airport also started their expansion project and hope to be triple it's size in some areas by August.
