There's still time to recognize those in the tri-state who've gone above and beyond to help others.
Friday is the final day to submit 'Hero nominations' to the American Red Cross.
There are 12 different categories to choose from including role model, educator, and law enforcement.
Winners will be recognized at a special banquet in May.
"I mean, it's your every day hero, whether it's a neighbor rescuing a family from a fire or someone that is a regular blood donor. There's all sorts of different heroes and it's great to see how many heroes there really are here in the Tri-State," said Julie Krizen with the American Red Cross.
Kids in grades K-12 also have until Friday to submit an essay about their hero or what heroism means to them. Winners in four categories will receive a $500 savings bond.
