EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

New earthquake hazard maps will be introduced Tuesday, a historic quake anniversary.

Tuesday is the 200th anniversary of the largest of the Great New Madrid Earthquakes of 1811 and 1812, which created Reelfoot Lake.

Eight states including Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois are taking part in the Great Central US Shakeout drill Tuesday.

In Evansville, the new earthquake hazard maps will be unveiled at the Southern Indiana Career and Technology Center on Lynch Road.

There will be an afternoon technical workshop there from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. The evening presentation from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. is for a general audience including homeowners and students.

The day's events are free and open to the public.

You can still register for the presentation. Mail your name and which session you would like to attend to eqworkshop2012@gmail.com.
