Truckloads of Girl Scout cookies have arrived in Evansville for distribution to leaders and their members.
Most troops in the U.S. take cash for the cookies, but some are now trying out the credit card method.
It will take until mid-March to deliver all the cookies, and meanwhile, you can still buy cookies from booths around the Tri-State.
New this year for some girl scouts in some parts of the U.S. are portable credit card scanners attached to smartphones. This makes it so customers can use plastic to pay for their cookies.
"This would help protect them from maybe a non-sufficient fund check or something like that, and it would also help a person who wants to support the Girl Scouts that might not have cash on hand," said Product Sales Manager Cheryl Voight.
The method of payment hasn't made it to the Girl Scouts of Southwestern Indiana yet, but Cheryl says they hope to have the option soon.
"We don't have an official program in place with our council, but there are councils across the country that are giving it a try this year, so hopefully it's successful for them and that would be something we would offer in the future."
The cookies are $3.50 a box and you can buy them at most store-fronts in the Tri-State until March 12th.
