'Next Level' a hit in Owensboro

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

The Next Level, an indoor sports facility, has been open for about a month in Owensboro.

Owners say they're pleased with the start up, calling it a hit with local athletes.

If athletes wanted to practice indoors in the past, they had to turn to high school gyms.

This facility offers something those gyms definitely could not. 32,000 square feet of indoor space.

When you're a baseball or softball player, getting some good practice outside can be difficult in the off season. With a full Astroturf softball sized field, the Next Level eliminates weather as a factor.

"It's very nice to take advantage of instead of having to go out in the cold," said Clay Montgomery, who uses facility.

Next Level officials say their new facility has been well received by the community.

In fact, they've had to reschedule lessons because they've been so crowded.

"You can take ground balls. There's pitching mounds upstairs. There's batting cages everywhere. So, I mean, it's got every thing you need to get to the next level," said Jeremy Dobbs, who teaches lessons at Next Level.

In March, the facility will be transformed into a basketball and volleyball facility.
