KSP tells 14 News there's a scam going around in eastern Kentucky where bank customers are receiving texts, telling them that their credit or debit cards have been deactivated and then asking them to give their 16 digit card number over the phone.
Police say the scam hit McClean County last year, but luckily, customers realized it was a scam.
They tell 14 News the scammers are often in other countries, so it's hard to take legal action.
"Banks will not text you very important information and expect you to send sensitive information over email or a text message. The best way to do it is ignore it, erase it, and if you have any reservations about it, Monday morning, go into your bank and talk to somebody face-to-face," said Corey King with KSP.
Evansville Police are also warning of a scam. They say it's the 'Grandparents' scam we've told you about before.
Officers say a caller tells the target their grandchild is in jail and money needs to be sent to get them out.
Police say you should always verify a relative's location before sending money.
