An Evansville man is arrested on burglary charges after police say the homeowner caught him in the act.
Officers say the homeowner received a cell phone alert that a motion sensor had been triggered in his Delaware Street home.
Police say the victim pulled up as 46-year old Carl Meriweather was leaving the house with computer equipment.
Authorities say when the victim confronted him, Meriweather took off in a car and struck the victim's truck. Meriweather then reportedly led police on a short chase that ended when he hit a utility pole on Maryland Street.
Police arrested him after a short foot chase.
Police say the victim told the officer Meriweather had come to his house Sunday and asked to use his phone.
The victim says he was burglarized the next night and a TV was taken.
Meriweather is charged with burglary, resisting law enforcement and a hit and run.
