OHIO CO., KY (WFIE) -

Charges have been filed in Kentucky against a Michigan couple charged with killing two people in their home state.

Patrick Bentley and Lashawn Whipple were in court Monday afternoon in Ohio County, listening to the charges they now face in Kentucky.

Sheriff David Thompson says both are charged with fleeing police, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief.

Bentley was armed when he ran away from sheriff's deputies, so he is also being charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Sheriff Thompson says the two admitted to killing Bentley's sister and her boyfriend back in Michigan. They were stopped by police near Fordsville in Ohio County over 500 miles away.

He says the pair had a plan about where they were going.

"I think they were trying to get to Alabama. They had dreams of living off the land. I think they were trying to get to the woods there."

Bentley and Whipple also face homicide and arson charges in Michigan.

An investigator will be coming down from Victory Township, where the murders took place this week.
