A Warrick County mother is in jail Friday night, accused of holding a teenage girl against her will and threatening the girl with a cattle prod.
The Sheriff's Office says the mother, Angalee Morrison intended to take the law into her own hands after her daughter and another teenage girl had a dispute, so she set up a meeting with the victim.
But the Sheriff's Office says what happened isn't exactly what you would expect, from an adult or a parent.
"It's been used in the livestock industry for years and holds about four D-cell batteries, has two electric prongs on the end and electricity travel between the two," said Warrick County Sheriff Brett Kruse.
Kruse says a cattle prod is what Morrison intended to use to get to the bottom of an argument between her 18-year-old daughter and another girl, who's 19.
"While trying to get to the bottom of this, she confines another person with the threat of bodily harm, if she doesn't tell her what happened," said Kruse.
The Sheriff says Morrison set up a meeting at a local Jimmy John's with the teenage girl and the Sheriff says when the girl arrived, Morrison was waiting in her car with a few other teens.
Kruse says somehow Morrison convinced the girl to get into her car.
Deputies say Morrison drove off with the victim and other teens, and wouldn't let her out.
"She took the law into her own hands and tried to intimidate this other person into telling her what went on with her daughter and it didn't work out to well," said Kruse.
Deputies say Morrison didn't use the cattle prod, but did hit the victim.
"Kind of a bizarre situation obviously, there are other ways to find out what happened, you can't just take somebody, intimidate them, threaten them with torture and get them to tell you what happened," noted Kruse.
The sheriff says the girl managed to get away and called 911 from a grocery store.
"You could try a civil conversation that might work better and you wouldn't get in any trouble," said Kruse.
Morrison is charged with criminal confinement, battery and intimidation.
The teens who were in the car were also charged, deputies say they did not include Morrison's daughter.
