Rivertown Antiques closing its doors

NEWBURGH, IN (WFIE) -

A staple in Downtown Newburgh is moving out. After nearly thirty years of business, Rivertown Antiques will be closing their doors.

The owner, Ken Hughes, has decided to retire.

The store is housed in an old hotel that served as a hospital during the Civil War.

Neighboring business "The Country Gentleman" will be buying the property.

Owner Scott Lauderdale says he's excited at the possibilities for expanding.

"And we're going to do more with furniture now that we will have more room again, and it'll be nice to take things out of storage. I've had things in storage for two years since my previous store closed."

Rivertown Antiques will close on January 31st.

Lauderdale says he believes it should only take a few days to move into his new store.
