One man's hurt and two are in custody after an overnight shooting at Fast Eddy's in downtown Evansville.
It was almost closing time at Fast Eddy's when an off-duty officer working security at the bar reported that shots were fired inside and a patron had been shot in the arm.
"We believe there was some sort of verbal altercation," Evansville Police Public Information Officer Jason Cullum told 14 News. "We're not 100% sure at this point what that altercation was about but they did have a little bit of contact with each other prior to the shooting. Hopefully we'll be able to keep them off the street for a little while."
Witnesses gave police a description of the shooter and the man who was with him.
Police say they found the two men in the parking lot, attempting to drive away.
Police say the suspected shooter, Derrick V. McGuire, 29, was arrested. The driver of the truck, Kem Duerson, 33, was also arrested.
According to the affidavit, Duerson is a felon, with previous convictions on robbery, criminal confinement, and cocaine charges. Police say they found a loaded semi-automatic handgun on Duerson.
Fast Eddy's says it will be business as usual for the rest of the weekend.
Drew Fisher, the General Manager of the downtown bar, wants patrons to know this was an isolated incident, "we're typically a safe environment. This has never happened to my knowledge."
McGuire is in the Vanderburgh County jail on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and criminal recklessness.
Duerson is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and public intox.
The victim in the shooting was not seriously hurt.
