ISP: Woman attempted to hire hit man

A Tell City woman has been arrested after allegedly conspired to have an Owensboro man murdered.

Indiana State Police arrested 52-year-old Jane Kleaving Friday afternoon following an investigation that began on October 5th.

Friday morning, Kleaving met with an undercover ISP Detective portraying himself as a hit man. 

Kleaving provided the detective with cash and a photograph of the man she wanted killed.

Not being able to provide the amount of money that had been agreed upon, Kleaving offered to stage a burglary at her residence with the intention to make a claim with her insurance company to get the rest of the money.

At 1:00 p.m., ISP stopped Kleaving on SR 66 just East of Troy, arresting her without incident. 

Kleaving is facing a charges of Conspiracy to Commit Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Insurance Fraud.

The investigation is on-going.
