CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Judgment day for the father whose infant son choked on a baby wipe.

Joshua Rains was sentenced to three years probation. This, after he pleaded guilty to felony child endangering.

Rains was arrested back in November after his son was rushed to the hospital because a baby wipe was shoved down the baby's throat.

The injuries were so severe, the baby was put on life support. The baby has since recovered.

Rains told police that he had wiped the baby's mouth with the wipe and then the wipe disappeared. Rains stated that he tried to retrieve the wipe, but he only pushed it down further.

Police didn't believe the father's statement, and said the child's injuries were not consistent with his statement.

There was another incident when the baby was only five days old. The infant suffered a detached eye lens, but that wasn't reported to police.
