On Monday, the Evansville Public Library started taking food in exchange for fines to help feed the hungry.
In past years, the library started this event after Thanksgiving, but they've moved up that date to help with the harder economic times.
A library official says they have been seeing an increase in donations in recent years and they hope to get 15,000 pounds of food for the food bank.
You get $1 off your fine for each item of food, up to $10.
The event runs November 7 through December 19th.
You can donate food at any of the eight library locations.
