ISP: One dead, two injured after IL crash

GALLATIN CO, IL (WFIE) -

Illinois State Police say one person died on Saturday afternoon after a two vehicle accident.

Police say the driver of a Mercury, a 48-year-old female from Equality (name withheld pending  notification of relatives) was traveling westbound on Rt. 13, and swerved into the path of the eastbound Buick and hit it head on.

The driver of the Mercury was pronounced dead at the  scene by the Gallatin County Coroner.

The driver of the Buick, 79-year-old Billy Head of Shawneetown was transported to an Evansville  Hospital by Air Evac.

The passenger in the Buick, 75-year-old Betty Head was  taken to a Harrisburg hospital by Gallatin County Ambulance for major injuries.

The accident is still under investigation by an Illinois State Police.
