America Now wellness expert Peggy Hall says that food is the most overlooked aspect when it comes to dealing with chronic pain. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and other pain pills can have serious, even fatal side-effects from heart attack to stroke or liver disease and can damage cartilage, making joint pain even worse.
"Most people don't realize that certain foods irritate the body, causing an inflammatory response that in turn can trigger pain," Peggy explains. "That means if you eat a diet full of inflammatory-causing foods, your aches and pains can flare up!"
These foods tend to irritate the body: Red meat, dairy, sugar, salt and caffeine.
For foods that fight pain, choose those foods that soothe and decrease inflammation, letting the pain subside.
Good foods to fight pain include: Chicken, salmon, avocado, olive oil, walnuts, and all unprocessed fruits and veggies.
Surprising fact: Cherries and blueberries are considered "nature's aspirin" because of their potent pain-fighting compounds!
Bonus: Apples, bananas, chicken and veggies are among the most budget-friendly, pain-healing foods. No need to spend money on pricey, potentially harmful drugs or "miracle" cures that will drain your wallet.

"Fresh is great, but frozen is fine too! Just look for no added sugar or salt, which can cause aches and pains to flare up even more."
