Building authority to begin shutting down Roberts Stadium

Roberts Stadium is about to be shut down and the current management company's contract for the Stadium expires Sunday.

The University of Evansville Presidents Club dinner will be the last event held in the Stadium Saturday night.

Starting next week, the building authority will start closing down the stadium.

They will shut down the air conditioner, chiller, cooling tower and all water valves that are not needed.

All essentials that are needed to run an operational building will be cut.

The boiler will be kept on for the winter and the building authority says it will still cut the grass and do yard maintenance, but for the most part it will be an unoccupied building.

It will be up to the next mayor to decide what to do with the building.

Lorilyn Prestidge will have more on this story tonight on 14 News at 10.
