March 27, 2012 marks the 200 year anniversary of the City of Evansville.
To commemorate the anniversary, the city and the CVB are planning a celebration starting late this year.
Various organizations throughout the city will be involved in putting together numerous events planned for the celebration.
"We want to make sure that we have a series of events that are manageable," Mayor Weinzapfel said Thursday. "The important thing is obviously coordinating existing events and festivals. Working those in and giving them the label as being part of the bicentennial celebration. But, also looking at a few additional events to really highlight and commemorate our bicentennial."
The celebration spans a 200 day period around the March anniversary.
It began December 18th and runs through the July 4th holiday.
