Court date on Wednesday for Jockey Calvin Borel

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Jockey Calvin Borel was scheduled to be in Vanderburgh County court on Monday, but that didn't happen. The three-time Kentucky Derby winner had it pushed to Wednesday so he can retain legal counsel.

Borel was arrested late Saturday night for drunk driving near his hotel in Evansville.

The 44-year old had his driving license suspended for six months.

Borel did not ride in any races on Sunday at Ellis Park, but owner Ron Geary says they stand behind their man.

Geary says, "The important thing that we do here as members of our team at Ellis Park, is that when someone gets in a situation like this, we back them up. They are our friends and we continue to support our friends."

The 44-year-old is the only jockey to win the Derby three times in a four-year span, accomplishing the feat in 2007, 2009, and 2010.
