In a suburb of Washington, D.C., police are warning young women to be more alert as they head to the shopping mall.
The latest in a bizarre series of attacks came just this week. Police say an 18-year-old woman was shopping at a mall in northern Virginia on Monday when she felt a sharp pain.
Lucy Caldwell with the Fairfax County Police Department says, "She realized she was bleeding, and someone had apparently slashed her through her outer clothing and her inner clothing, and caused about an inch and a half wound in her rear end."
Investigators say they believe the man is responsible for Monday's attack and at least four others in the same area of northern Virginia since February.
Police say the attacks are all at popular retail stores, and the suspect is described as a heavy-set Latino man in his late 20's.
So far, the attacks have produced superficial wounds. The victims have all been in their late teens and early 20's.
