OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -
Three people are arrested in what Owensboro Police are calling the biggest meth bust in the agency's history. Officers say the bust was a joint effort with the sheriff's office and Kentucky State Police.
Police say they were tipped off about a suspicious package headed for a home on Edwards Street on Wednesday.
The OPD says a United States Post Master contacted them, saying a suspicious package had come through with an Owensboro destination.
Law enforcement checked the package out using a K-9, and discovered it contained crystal methamphetamine. Three search warrants were issued, and the package was delivered by the postal service to 224 Edwards Street.
Police say 46-year-old Jeffery Franklin took the package from the mailbox, and got into his car.
Minutes later, police arrested Franklin, along with 41-year-old Kelly Sowders, and 45-year-old Traci Huddleston who were both at the house.
All three charged with drug trafficking.
OPD PIO Marian Cosgrove says, "This is the largest drug seizure that we've had of meth. We're glad to take it off the streets."
The OPD says they hope this serves as a warning to others using drugs, that they are watching and will catch you.
