BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Western Kentucky showed off a potent offensive attack in its first spring game under new coach Jeff Brohm on Saturday. Senior Brandon Doughty completed 21 of 34 passes for 365 yards and four touchdowns to help the Red team to a 58-10 victory over the White squad. Taywan Taylor had scoring grabs of 70 and 33 yards. He finished with seven receptions for 175 yards.

CHICAGO (AP) - Darwin Barney and Welington Castillo hit two-run homers and Mike Olt added a solo shot as the Chicago Cubs broke out of a weeklong offensive funk and beat the Cincinnati Reds 8-4 Saturday. Jay Bruce went 3 for 3 with a walk for the Reds.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Mr Speaker took charge down the stretch to win the $200,000 Coolmore Lexington Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday and earn 10 points toward the Kentucky Derby, but will be a spectator to the Triple Crown. With just 17 total points at stake in this Grade 3 race and facing a two-week turnaround before the 140th Derby on May 3, the winner was a longshot for Churchill Downs. Ridden by Jose Lezcano, Mr Speaker covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.18 and paid $6.20, $3.40 and $2.40.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Birhanu Tadesee won the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon on Saturday in 2 hours, 17 minutes, 54 seconds. In near-perfect weather, the Washington, D.C., resident won by nearly three minutes over Getachew Asfaw of Silver Spring, Md. Joseph Amenya of Grand Prairie, Texas, was third.
