UNION CO, KY (WFIE) -

In Union County, the latest round of heavy rain forced school officials to cancel classes on Monday.

In Union County, around 50 state and county roads are closed due to flooding.

Receiving an additional two and a half inches of rain on Sunday night, county officials, volunteers, and anyone who could get their hands on sandbags pitched in to help neighbors in need on Monday.

Farmer Doug Omer says, "These are our community, we see them on the road everyday. A lot of them are our neighbors. Just a bunch of farmers got together, we can't plant so we're helping."

As the rainfall continues, the county is working hard to sandbag all areas in need.

They encourage any residents in need of sandbagging to contact the local emergency management office.
