Mandatory evacuation order in Poplar Bluff lifted

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

The mandatory evacuation order for residents in Poplar Bluff has been lifted.

This is for those living south of Ashcroft Road and east of WW Hwy. (Ditch Road).

Residents can return home at any time.

Hwy. 67 south of the Arkansas Missouri state line is closed and Hwy. 53 south of Poplar Bluff remains closed.

Poplar Bluff resident are encouraged to take advantage of "Buff Up the Bluff" on May 14 to dispose of items damaged or contaminated during the flood.  Proof of residency within city limits is required.

Call Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce President Steve Halter at 573-785-7761 about donations of non-perishable supplies.

Friends and family of those who took shelter can check their status at www.safeandwell.org.  Monetary donations are being accepted for the Red Cross at www.redcross-ozarks.org.

The United Gospel Rescue Mission is also accepting donations.
