GALLATIN CO., IL (WFIE) - Two southern Illinois men are in jail after state police say they found drugs, a stolen gun and stolen ATV at a home in Equality earlier this month.
Jerome Leonard Patton, 51, of Equality and Anthony Wayne Hull, 50 of Harrisburg were arrested at Patton's residence March 18.
Illinois state troopers and a Gallatin County sheriff's deputy went to Patton's residence last Friday to serve three outstanding arrest warrants. Two of the arrest warrants were issued in Gallatin County and charged Patton with one count of Unlawful Manufacture of Cannabis, a Class 2 Felony, and one count of Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, a Class 3 Felony. The third arrest warrant was issued through Saline County and charged Patton with one count of Criminal Damage to property over $300.00, a Class 4 Felony.
Upon arriving at Patton's residence, the law enforcement officers say they were met by Hull at the end of Patton's driveway. While speaking with Hull, one trooper saw Patton walking away from the back of the residence towards a wooded area. Troopers say Patton then ran into the wooded area. After a short foot chase, Patton was caught.
Once Patton was in custody, officers say they found a case containing suspected cannabis, suspected methamphetamine, prescription medications, and smoking pipes. In addition, a stolen handgun and two stolen ATVs were found on Patton's property.
Patton was transported to the White County Jail in Carmi . In addition to the original three arrest warrants, Patton was charged with the following offenses: Armed Habitual Criminal, a Class X Felony; Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, a Class 2 Felony; Possession of a Stolen Firearm, a Class 2 Felony; Felony Possession of a Firearm, a Class 3 Felony; Possession of a Firearm with a Revoked F.O.I.D. Card, a Class 3 Felony; Theft, a Class 2 Felony; Manufacture/Delivery of Cannabis (500 - <2,000 grams), a Class 2 Felony; Possession of Cannabis (500 - <2,000 grams), a Class 3 Felony; Possession of Cannabis (2.5 – 10 grams), a Class B Misdemeanor; Possession of Methamphetamine (< 5 grams), a Class 3 Felony; Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class 4 Felony; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Class a Misdemeanor; and Resisting a Peace Officer, a Class a Misdemeanor.
Hull, also arrested and transported to the White County Jail in Carmi, was charged with Concealing/Aiding a Fugitive, a Class 4 Felony.
