The time is now to ask questions and get answers about the government consolidation of the City of Evansville and Vanderburgh County.
The merger proposal is now in the hands of City Council members and County Commissioners. These elected leaders are hosting a public hearing this Wednesday (3-30-11) and want your input.
They've received the recommendations from a citizen committee and will try to agree on a final plan that could go to a voter referendum as early as next year.
If you have concerns about how this reorganization could affect law enforcement, representation or your taxes, don't be on the sidelines.
The public hearing will be the first of several of these meetings but it could set the tone for how all this will play out.
The public hearing is Wednesday (3-30-11) at 5:30 p.m. at the Civic Center in Downtown Evansville.
It's our stand that an informed public will make the right choices. This is one of those moments that could shape the future of our community.
