McManomy now facing attempted murder charge

MT. VERNON, IN (WFIE) - A Posey County man accused of attacking a sheriff's deputy is now facing multiple charges including attempted murder.

Last month law enforcement were serving an arrest warrant on McManomy on a rape charge out of Murray, Kentucky.  That's when troopers say he starting stabbing himself multiple times in the throat using a utility knife.

McManomy is then accused of slashing Posey County Sheriff's Deputy Dan Montgomery in the face. Montgomery was sent to the hospital but has since recovered and is back on the job.

Posey County Prosecutor Travis Clowers says they have charged McManomy with attempted murder, attempted aggravated battery, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting law enforcement.

McManomy bond is set at $ 500,000. No court date is set yet in Posey County, he is being held in Kentucky right now of the rape charge.
