STURGIS, KY (WFIE) - New information on the Little Sturgis Bike Rally in Sturgis, Kentucky. It's on but this time, with a new organization and a new name.

Start your engines because Sturgis is hosting the Kentucky Biker Fest this July.

"We're going to do more entertainment, live entertainment, stuff like that. Maybe bring in some more bike shops, show off more bikes," Kentucky Biker Fest sponsor Tim Banks says.

The former rally organizers, Little Sturgis Rally Incorporated, canceled the event earlier this month, but new sponsors are excited to keep the tradition going.

"We travel all over the country and people know it, people know about this rally. So it's well known, it's well established, there's no sense to let it die," Banks says.

Union County fair board officials confirmed the announcement and Tim Banks and Carlene Thomas are excited to sponsor the event. They say it's important to maintain these profits for local businesses, charities, and the city of Sturgis.

"There's a lot of money to be made and to be brought into our town and I think we just can't just give it up," Kentucky Biker Fest sponsor Carlene Thomas says.

A gas station parking lot that may seem empty now, bikers from all over will be fighting over the gas pumps on the weekend of July 14th.

"Last year we had music playing, we had a DJ here for most of the week, so it was a nice atmosphere," Hucks manager Erek Anderson says.

Local businesses, such as Hucks, have customers visit from all over that weekend. Anderson was a little worried when he heard they originally canceled the rally.

"It would of really been bad for us to not have that busy week's worth of business where we go 24 hours a day and we're slammed all day long. So it's exciting for us," Anderson says.

Thomas says there's still leases to work out, but they are happy to continue bringing the community together through this event.

It's set for the weekend of July 14th through the 17th at the Union County fair grounds.
