14 News is doing an investigation on teacher absentee rates at public schools in Indiana and Kentucky.
Our sunrise anchor, Beth Sweeney, compiled absentee rates from many of the school districts from across the Tri-State.
Since our promo for the story began airing, we've received a number of emails, some angry, and many from teachers concerned this investigation was an attack on teachers.
It is not.
This investigation highlights an important issue that affects the quality of education for students and the taxpayer dollars used to pay substitute teachers.
This story will also show a number of school districts that don't have high absentee rates.
I would hope that people would watch this story before passing judgement on its content.
And if you watch this story and still feel it's unfair, I'll be happy to give someone an opportunity to respond in their own Taking a Stand editorial.
