PADUCAH, KY (AP) - A western Kentucky man has been charged with murder after police say he walked into a hospital carrying a knife and talked of stabbing a woman to death.
Paducah Detective Sgt. Brian Laird says 35-year-old Jerome J. Thomas entered Western Baptist Hospital just before midnight Saturday and said he stabbed 38-year-old Sylenia Williams.
Laird said a Western Baptist Hospital employee called 911.
Laird said Thomas told officers he stabbed Williams at her home.
The officers found a large knife in the emergency room waiting area.
Other investigators went to Williams' home and found her stabbed to death on the floor of a bedroom.
Thomas was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
