Mint Julep Drink
I like to infuse the simple syrup with mint. Heat sugar and water in a small saucepan with a big handful of mint leaves. Let the sugar dissolve slowly as the syrup steeps in the mint. When it cools, discard the mint leaves. Put some of the infused syrup in a julep glass and muddle with fresh mint leaves. Pour a couple of ounces of bourbon to taste and pack with crushed ice and stir. Garnish with fresh mint.
