EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - What should take the place of Roberts Stadium? That's the question posed by the Wesselman support group, and they're asking anyone with ideas to submit them.
The group says Roberts Stadium belongs to Evansville citizens. Their plan to get the citizens what they want involves taking the ideas and forming a research committee.
That committee, made up of community members, leaders, engineers, scientists, and financial minds, will take each idea into consideration, but ultimately they'll select those that best represent the general public, and have strong financial backing.
Once a solid plan for the Roberts location is in place, it will be presented to city and county leaders for approval.
One Wesselman support group member tells 14 News, the ideas are already coming in.
"It's a really broad spectrum out there," said Martha Crosley. "There a just a lot of things out there. Some of them are way out there some of them are unique."
If you are interested in weighing in on what should go on the Roberts site, answer these questions:
1. What is your best idea for the use of Roberts Stadium?
2. How would you propose to fund this idea?
3. If Roberts Stadium proves to have engineering or structural problems too big to overcome, how best would you like to see the land used?
