INDIANA (WFIE) - The UE basketball team leads the all-time series against Butler, 60-to-55.
The Bulldogs though, are quickly closing in on that mark, having won seven straight games, against the Aces.
Butler has also won 17-in-a row, at Hinkle Fieldhouse, so Evansville knew they would have their hands full on Saturday, against the 23rd-ranked team in the country.
Late in the first half Zach Hahn nails one from way downtown to put the Bulldogs up, 33-to-21.
Midway through the second the Aces have pulled within five, and Ned Cox hits from long range to cut the lead, down to two.
Just over a minute to go, Colt Ryan knocks down the mid-range jumper, to make it 61-to-58, but the Bulldogs hit a few free throws down the stretch, sending it to overtime.
Game tied at 67, with 20-seconds to go in the extra period when Denver Holmes hits the clutch three from the wing and it's 71-to-68.
Shelvin Mack has one last shot for the Bulldogs, but it wasn't anywhere close and Evansville holds on, for a 71-to-68 overtime victory.
They put an end to Butler's 17-game, home winning streak and win at Hinkle Fieldhouse, for the first time in 16-years.
The Aces will take on Air Force on the road next Sunday afternoon, before returning home to battle North Carolina, on December eighth.
