OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - If it seems more crowded than normal this weekend in Owensboro it's because about 3,000 tourists will be visiting.
Many leave town over Memorial Day weekend but the Convention and Visitor's Bureau is hosting a baseball tournament this weekend at Jack Fischer Park, bringing more people in.
The CVB said Memorial Day is the perfect time to do so. If weather gets bad, make-up games are held on Monday.
The CVB said it's also a good opportunity for extra money to be spent in town and benefit the city.
"We do have 85 baseball teams in town so it will be a huge weekend for the hotels who are mostly sold out and it will be hard to get a table in Owensboro this weekend at one of the restaurants," Tony Bratcher with the CVB said.
The CVB said this is the 7th year this tournament has been held over Memorial Day weekend.
