EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Police are looking for a suspect they say fatally shot one man and left two others wounded.
The suspect is 22-year -old Michael Anthony Lane, Jr. He's wanted for murder, two counts of attempted murder, and conspiracy to deal a controlled substance.
Officers say they are familiar with Lane. They say he was arrested on cocaine charges in the past
Police say the shooting happened on Evansville's southeast side in the 2600 block of Lodge Avenue, south of Riverside.
Police say it happened in the parking lot of the Woodland Apartments around 8:30 Tuesday night.
We're told Michael Hooper, Sr., 38 of Evansville, was killed.
The other victims, Jason Derrington and Frank Hurst, were taken to St. Mary's hospital. Derrington is listed in critical condition. Hurst is in serious condition.
Police say the three met up with Lane, who is know as "Little Mike."
They say Lane got inside the car with the victims, but then shot them after getting into a fight.
Officers say one of the victims returned fire on Lane, but they are not sure if he was hit.
Police say they are making progress in their investigation because the victims are talking.
"It helps the investigation out a lot. As you know a lot of times when drugs are involved, we don't get a lot of cooperation. There's a lot of cooperation going on now, so it shouldn't be long before we will be able to locate this person," said Cpl. Steve Green.
Police say Lane should be considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information should call police at 436-7979.
