The Henderson County School Corporation is seriously considering a dress code for the 2009/2010 school year.  Our stand: school uniforms are a good decision.

For the last couple of weeks, the Henderson County School District has been doing a survey that asks parents if they want a dress code.

If they do adopt a dress code, they would join other schools in the area, including EVSC Elementary and Middle Schools: Evans, Lincoln, Glenwood and Harwood.

Owensboro Middle School has successfully had a dress code for a number of years.

Of course, school uniforms are mandatory at most of our private and parochial schools.

We believe when kids all wear the same thing, social standing is based more on individual character, and less on what they are wearing or their economic status.

Parents save money because they don't have to buy the latest fashions or fads.  And, if money is a problem, there are usually places to buy used uniforms.

And for many, a dress code saves time; no more fighting about what their kids put on every morning.
