OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - City and county leaders got a first hand look at how work is going on the riverfront in Owensboro.
Constructions crews have been working for about six months now to renovate the riverfront and clear the way for a new park downtown.
14 news went along with city and county officials on a tour of the construction site Tuesday afternoon.
Mayor Ron Payne said he was concerned about crews falling behind schedule because of recent storms.
A city engineer said crews are about two weeks behind schedule, but additional equipment has been brought in to make up for lost time.
The mayor said the final picture is starting to come into focus.
"You can start to relate the construction out here with the pictures we've been looking at for months and months and months, so that really makes it that much more exciting," Payne said. "You can see those drawings becoming reality."
The project is scheduled to be completed by late 2011 or early 2012.
