An Evansville couple is arrested on child neglect charges.
Police were called to the home of Norman Schmidt, 31 and Amanda Schmidt, 29, to investigate a subject with a knife.
Police say when they arrived they said they heard a loud crashing noise and a child scream and start crying.
Police said Amanda Schmidt didn't notice her 4-year-old child was bleeding from the head.
Police were told by a the couple's 6-year-old that Norman threw a chair and hit the 4-year-old in the head.
She was taken to St. Mary's for stitches above her eye.
Police say the couple appeared to be intoxicated and were unable to take care of the children.
They also say they found two kitchen knives on the floor, one had the blade bent sideways.
Amanda and Norman Schmidt were taken to the Vanderburgh County jail and charged with child neglect.
