The sheriff and jail deputies in Daviess County are getting some very realistic training.

The two agencies are using a simulator to practice use of force methods and firearms training in different scenarios. The training allows the officers to review their procedures and saves the departments a lot of ammunition.

Jeff Jones, with the Daviess County Sheriff's Department knows the value of these simulators. Jones says, "It provides some additional training to the officers. It's training in which they get to react to the training scenarios. I think it helps to enhance the training that we do on the firing range."

The equipment, which cost about $70,000, travels around the state to different agencies. Jones tells 14 News that every deputy will train on the simulator.
