Nexstar Broadcasting Group, Inc. has announced the appointment of Michael Smith as vice president and general manager of WTVW Television, the FOX affiliate serving the Evansville market.
Smith has been the vice president and general manager of Nexstar’s WDHN (ABC) in Dothan, Alabama since 2003. According to a Nexstar press release, WDHN doubled its cash flow under Smith’s leadership, and the station significantly expanded and re-launched its local news programming and actively supported programs to improve literacy rates, educational services, and music arts for the community. “Mike brings an exceptional broadcast sales and management background to his new role at WTVW, and we are confident that his leadership will complement the talents of the station’s tremendous staff,” said Nexstar’s senior vice president and regional manager Timothy Busch.
