KENTUCKY - Late Wednesday night, former Washington Hatchet basketball player Seth Coy was killed in an automobile accident.
He was driving through Kentucky on his way home to Montgomery, Indiana.
Shelby County Sheriff's Investigators say the crash happened on a newly paved I-64 between Shelbyville and Waddy.
They believe water on the roadway caused Coy to hydroplane and lose control.
They say Coy was thrown from the car.
Coy joined East Tennessee State University last season, after a high school career at Washington that included a AAA state championship.
Coy averaged more than 13 points and 9 rebounds a game as a senior with the Hatchets.
He was expected to battle for a starting spot this coming season.
Services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. EST at the Washington High School gym.
Visitation will be Saturday 4:00 to 8:00 at the gym.
A special Seth Coy memorial fund has been set up to help with funeral arrangements.
You can contribute at any Old National Bank branch.
