HATTIESBURG, MS (WFIE) - Evansville police get a break in a four-month-old robbery case.
It happened on Friday in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Police say 9:30 a.m. on Friday, a man entered a bank in Hattiesburg and handed a note to a bank teller. The note demanded money.
The robber fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money but it contained a dye pack.
The dye began smoking from the suspect's pocket and a witness notified police.
Police quickly arrived in the area and stopped the suspect vehicle a few blocks from the bank.
They apprehended the suspect, identified as Michael Watson, 31-years-old of Hendersonville, Tennessee and the driver of the vehicle, Watson's wife, 26-year-old Nikki.
The investigation led police officials to believe that the Watsons are suspects in other bank robberies including the Diamond Valley Credit Union in Evansville.
That robbery occurred in November of 2008 when a subject entered the branch and gave a note to a teller demanding money and implied that he had a gun.
The suspect fled the scene and had not been identified until the arrest in Hattiesburg.
Evansville Police Officers are working with the Hattiesburg authorities in order to connect the crimes.
The Evansville Police Department believe the Watson's are responsible for local robbery.
Due to the investigation E.P.D. cannot elaborate further.
