INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Paul George scored 27 points to lead the Indiana Pacers to a 101-85 victory over the Atlanta Hawks last night in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series. The Pacers and Hawks are tied at a game apiece heading into Game 3 in Atlanta tomorrow. George was especially effective even though he spent much of the night defending Hawks point guard Jeff Teague.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - IndyCar has put Helio Castroneves on probation through June because he violated the series' social media policy. Castroneves was penalized for a tweet from his account that criticized race control for not penalizing drivers during the race. The tweet included an image of IndyCar's official logo with a "thumbs down" symbol photo-shopped in the center.

DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Tigers held on for an 8-6 victory over the Chicago White Sox last night. Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer. Justin Verlander had little to worry about after allowing a first-inning homer to Jose Abreu. He allowed two runs and eight hits, striking out seven and walking two.

CHICAGO (AP) - Nate Schierholtz drove in a pair of early runs to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 9-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks last night. Jason Hammel pitched seven strong innings. He allowed just one run and four hits in seven innings to lower his ERA to 2.60.
