OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - Federal grant money will pay to put people back to work in Owensboro.

The Green River Workforce Investment Board received nearly $200,000 to provide 30, twelve-week internships to low income families and displaced workers.

These internships also target those with experience in billing and coding, nursing assistance and industrial maintenance.

Green River Area Development District hopes to fill the positions by mid-November.

Woody Maglinger with GRADD says, "They want them to be able to hook onto a place where there's going to be opportunities and a lot of job openings, so we're really focused on healthcare, science, technology, even mining and that sort of thing that's really booming in the area right now, so there are jobs for people once training is done."

Anyone interested in the internships may apply at the Owensboro area career center by October 29.
