EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - In a press conference Friday morning, Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Stan Levco announced he does not plan to pursue charges against movie kiosk owners.

Earlier this week, Levco talked how R rated movies are available for rental in Redboxes in Vanderburgh County and that there wasn't a proper identification check for age.

Levco say the issue was called to his attention by video store owners back in December.

In January, Levco's office sent letters to stores like Walmart, Schnucks and Walgreens that have a Redbox or similar machines on their property.

He says he asked them to stop renting R rated movies or he would consider filing charges.

Levco now says he believes a trial against Redbox and other movie kiosk owners would be a waste of his resources and that a non-guilty verdict would be returned.

Levco says his office was flooded with calls and emails from people in the community.

He said the prosecution of kiosk owners goes against community sentiment.

Redbox responded Friday afternoon, saying it was "pleased with the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor's decision to not pursue action against video rental kiosks that would seek to limit consumers' access to films with a PG-13 or R rating."
