EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - It's G.I. Joe movie premier weekend, and Sunday, the writer for the current G.I. Joe comic book was in Evansville.

Chuck Dixon stopped by Comic Quest on Morgan Avenue. Evansville was the last stop on the G.I. Joe comic book tour.

Dixon has been writing comic books for a while. He worked on the Batman titles for 11 years.

Dixon was drawn to comic books as a kid, but has grown to appreciate the art of it.

He said he's excited about this latest assignment.

"It's great," Dixon said. "I thought I'd have fun with it. One of my mentors, Larry Hound, created G.I. Joe and I got the chance to work with him again, but I'm really having a lot of fun with it, the characters are terrific."

Before Evansville, Dixon made stops in Cincinnati and Louisville.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is in theatres now. It's rated PG-13.
