EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Mater Dei High School students learned more about the Holocaust, directly from someone who survived it.
Speaker Fred Gross told students about his families flight from the German invasion of Belgium and about the after effects on his life.
Gross says his experiences after the Holocaust are actually very similar to those current students can relate to, feeling isolated and misunderstood.
“During the time that I was a teenager, very distrustful of people, kept to myself didn’t want to be - wanted to be with friends, but i was just always cautious,” explained Gross.
Gross encouraged students to stand up for those who are different, because you never know how you are actions can lead to change. He ended by reminding them they are the future.
